Homestay accommodation

During your studies in the UK, your friendly homestay host will provide:

  • comfortable accommodation
  • a single bedroom with study desk in most cases  otherwise a separate, peaceful area to study
  • breakfast and evening dinner every day plus lunch at the weekend

Rules of homestay

  • Homestays do not provide snacks outside of mealtimes.
  • If you do not eat at the same time as the homestay, you might have to prepare food yourself.
  • The host(s) will speak to you in English but they are not your English teacher. You are paying for accommodation not English lessons.
  • Your clothes will be washed and you will be provided with clean towels and bed sheets.
  • You will be expected to keep your bedroom clean and follow the rules of the house.
  • Students must notify the homestay in advance if they will not be returning home for dinner or returning home to sleep at night
  • Any payments made in respect of homestay must not be given directly to the homestay host. All payments must be paid into the North of England School of English bank account and monies will be transferred to the host at the appropriate times. This also includes any bond / deposit.

Location

The majority of homestay properties are in various areas in or close to Doncaster. There are a few hosts located within walking distance of the school, but in some circumstances, it may be necessary to catch the bus to and from school. Students will usually need to catch no more than one bus when travelling to school. We will send you information about your homestay location before you arrive and any information related to using public transport, but it is not possible to visit the homestay before booking.

Payment

Payment must always be made in advance.

Long-term students must pay 4 weeks' homestay fees in advance. Short-term students who are studying for less than 4 weeks must pay for the full period in advance. There is a two week minimum stay for short term students.

Any future payments must be paid on a monthly basis and at least 2 weeks in advance.

Payment of accommodation fees commences from the arrival date stated on your booking form (even if you arrive late).

Leaving your Homestay

After the minimum period is finished, you can leave the accommodation early provided that you tell the North of England School of English in writing two weeks in advance. You will be given a letter to confirm this (you will need this letter as proof of notice).

You will be refunded any unused host fees and your deposit after you move out, on the condition that there are no breakages or other unpaid fees.

If you do not tell the North of England School of English TWO WEEKS BEFORE the date you move out, you will lose two weeks’ fees (this may be taken from the deposit).

If you take a holiday, full accommodation fees are payable.

If leaving accommodation early, after the student leaves and removes all luggage, a refund of unused accommodation fees and the deposit will be returned to the student provided that sufficient notice is given.

By accepting a place at your homestay accommodation you understand the above rules and conditions and agree to follow them.
